GPSR spawned a whole compliance-services market, but the way in is narrow: an AI-assisted back office for small sellers who carry a handful of products.

The gap is real. The General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) has been fully enforceable since December 13, 2024, and Article 16 says you need an EU-based economic operator before you can sell anything.

Don't try to be a full-service consultancy for big brands. Sell a retainer to small sellers with 10 to 50 products: you cover them as their Responsible Person, screen their labels and claims, do their CPNP filings, and handle incidents as they come up.

This only works if the founder sets up an EU legal entity, buys product-liability insurance, and steers clear of the hardest cases that need qualified safety assessors or EFSA authorization.

AI is the real edge here. Most of the work is drafting documents, filling in forms, and screening claims, and that's exactly the repetitive stuff AI can take on, which cuts the labor cost per product.

  • Basic GPSR representation goes for EUR 200-600 a month. Full-service coverage starts at EUR 1,500 a month.
  • Amazon shut down its own Responsible Person service in 2024, so sellers now have to go to third parties.
